Easing Kenaston Congestion

Author: Colin Craig 2014/10/10

Most people know that driving down Kenaston Blvd in Winnipeg can be quite the pain in the butt.

Traffic often crawls along – hence why the city wants to broaden the major thoroughfare. However, due to legal battles between the federal government and aboriginal bands, the widening has been stalled…for years…and could take years to sort itself out.

In the mean time, here’s a simple and relatively inexpensive idea to get traffic moving along faster.

The city should put up a couple “Slower Traffic Keep Right” signs along that stretch of road. Doing so could help avoid situations whereby you see two big semis driving along in both lanes, holding everyone up. While we typically see such signs on the highway, what would be the harm in posting them up in the city? After all, there is already precedent whereby the city doesn't follow international roadway sign guidelines.
